SOC-SAT, the Andalusian farm workers\u2019 union with which we are affiliated, went on an indefinite strike on 10 August against Lara Castaneda\u2019s farm (Agroponiente Group). This followed a series of negotiations. Consumers in Germany are urged to look out for the company\u2019s products in German shops, take photos of the labels and send them to the Interbrigadas support group: info@interbrigadas.org<\/p>\n

Consumers should look out for the following labels: \u201cAgropointe\u201d, \u201cGoldQuality\u201d, \u201cnatugly\u201d, \u201cvega canada\u201d, \u201cEl Aut\u00e9ntico RAF\u201d, \u201cfruish fresh fruit\u201d, \u201cBomb\u00f3n\u201d, \u201cfashion\u201d, \u201cSweet Palermo\u201d. Trade union supporters recommend avoiding all products from the group during the strike.<\/p>\n

Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to SOC-SAT, Lara Castaneda (AGROPONIENTE Group) refuses to respect the labour rights of its employees. According to the trade union, Agroniente is a corporate group led by a hedge fund based in Catalonia, with estates in Morocco and Spain, and a turnover of over 415 million euros in the 2025\/26 financial year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe founding partner and CEO of the hedge fund Abasc Capital, Oriol Pinya, who holds a majority stake in the AGROPONIENTE Group, is also the managing director of INDRA \u2013 supported by the reactionary right-wing party Junts per Catalunya, the very same people who scuppered the reduction in working hours in parliament, the very same people who allowed the forced evictions of working-class families, and so on.<\/em><\/p>\n

Oriol Pinya is a man of many faces: he sells both tomatoes through the AGROPONIENTE Group and a battle tank via INDRA, a strategic company owned by the Spanish state.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Situation on the ground<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supporters on the ground, 10 August:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe strike and the stand-off at Lara Castaneda (Agroponiente Group) have been going on since 5 am. It was quite a turbulent night. The managing director is angry and on edge.<\/em>
\nThe employers have made their first move; there is a strong presence of the Guardia Civil (a Spanish police force with military status), to which the striking workers are responding with determination.<\/em><\/p>\n

The mood amongst the workers is good.<\/em><\/p>\n

In a few minutes, the strike committee will attempt, in accordance with the law, to enter the premises to check that the strike is being observed. Should the employers prevent this, a further legal action will be taken.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
