Want to become a member of the IGG? Great—and a warm welcome to you!

Not a FAU member yet?

The FAU is a federation of local unions (syndicates). You can only become a member of the IGG by first joining one of these syndicates. Here you’ll find an overview of the local syndicates. If you’re not sure which union is responsible, just send us a message. You can usually join easily via email or an online form; the membership fee is 1% of your income, and exemptions are often available in cases of financial hardship (see the local websites for details). Please feel free to let us know about your membership using the details below or CC us in your email. This will significantly speed up your integration into the IGG sector structures: igg-mitgliedschaft[replace this spam protection with @]fau.org

Are you already a FAU member?

Then send us an email at igg-mitgliedschaft[replace this spam protection with @]fau.org with the following information: an email address where we can reach you (preferably your FAU email), your FAU ID, your (nick)name, your sub-sector (e.g., fruit growing, vegetable growing, landscaping, forestry), and your workplace. Feel free to let us know if you already have specific issues or particular interests.

Is the IGG the responsible sectoral structure?

The competence of the FAU’s sectoral structures is generally determined by your company’s field of work, not strictly by your profession, because our goal is to bring workforces together and empower them to take action. So if you’re a cleaning staff member or a cook at a larger agricultural operation, the IGG is responsible. If you’re the sole gardener at an electronics factory, the IGG isn’t technically responsible. Nevertheless, we of course respect the desire for professional exchange, and since the FAU is still in the process of establishing most of its sectoral structures, you can still join as a member as a fallback option.

The IGG currently represents workers from companies in the following sub-sectors:

  • Horticulture (all specializations)
  • Agriculture
  • Forestry
  • Monitoring, species mapping, environmental assessments, and similar activities
  • Environmental and agricultural research
  • Environmental and nature conservation agencies
  • Botanical and zoological gardens and similar institutions

If you’re unsure whether you fit into one of these sectors, feel free to contact us.
