First Goals in the Workplace

Together we discuss with you and your colleagues your shared demands in the workplace and support you in enforcing them. Among the existing union members, we have also identified a number of demands that unite us all:

Workplace Safety: In many workplaces, workplace safety regulations are not followed, leading to many colleagues not being able to work until retirement or dealing with serious illnesses or accidents. Therefore, we demand compliance with workplace safety regulations in the workplaces, adequate equipment of protective clothing, availability of medical supplies for emergencies, adaptation of work or workplaces during extreme weather conditions, and education on job hazards.

Working Hours: Our professions are often physically demanding, and there is more to life than just work. Therefore, we advocate for the introduction of a 40-hour workweek in agriculture, and eventually a 35-hour workweek. Before that, we fight for comprehensive rights of workers to part-time contracts.

Wage Levels: Especially in the field of agriculture, where all our food is produced, many of us work under extremely harsh conditions for minimum wage. Our colleagues from other countries often earn even less. We demand wage increases for everyone!

Shortage of Apprentices/ Professionals: The shortage of professionals is an ongoing issue, and surveys clearly indicate how it could be addressed: with part-time training models and a significant increase in training salaries, including training models such as Demeter training! In many workplaces, apprentices work well over 40 hours rather than less. And that at wages just above the Hartz IV rate (= absolute minimum for existence) – this cannot continue!

Democratization: The desire for more democratic forms of workplace organization connects many people. Many newly established companies operate collectively from the outset. Therefore, we want to support the establishment of democratic rights of workers in existing businesses and provide advisory support for collective ownership of companies.
